Smart farming closing symposium

Our Erasmus Plus KA2 Smart Farming project is wrapping up on October 20, 2020. Join us for this free, online event to learn about the future of agriculture in Europe.

Since 2017, Junia ISA’s Agricultural Science department has been heading up an Erasmus Plus KA2 project on Smart Farming in collaboration with seven European partner universities.

The Closing Symposiumwas the opportunity to demonstrate the goals and achievements of this project, as well as highlight this collaborative effort’s role in the future of European agriculture.

The conference  includes special addresses from JUNIA management and staff to outline the origins of the project and summarize the results and impact of transnational cooperation. In addition, faculty from ISA Lille’s Agricultural Science department presentes ongoing and upcoming research, projects, and cooperation opportunities.

JUNIA also provided an introduction to the agricultural technology entrepreneurial sector in the Northern France. Guest speakers from local precision agricultural companies and project leaders presented the richness of this sector. A highlight is certainly the startup incubation available at Euratechnologies business cluster.

Giving students opportunities to gain professional experience has been an essential part of this project since the beginning. Thus student participants from each partner university shared their experience (either live or through video). What’s more, PhD students from each partner university presented their research projects in a special Discover my Thesis challenge. Inviting students to participate in this international symposium introduced another aspect of what they will experience in their careers as international agricultural engineers.
